Alina Tukallo

Author, Journalist
I tell stories, but not only my own.

I’ve been writing for various media, primarily in my native Russian. However, some of my texts have been published in Swiss magazines in German or translated into several, sometimes exotic, languages such as Chinese and Japanese.

As a journalist, I’ve worked in many fields, though I tend to avoid politics and economics, which are too complex for my humble understanding. Some of the most extraordinary protagonists of my texts are the fantastic bestseller author Erich von Däniken, the philanthropic Chinese contemporary art collector Uli Sigg, the world’s fastest alpinist Ueli Steck (a true hero who died in the Himalayas), and the French connoisseur of Russian literature and art René Guerra.
I recorded many voices before I finally heard my own. That moment marked a turn toward my family story, and my dear ones who are no longer with us.

I’m currently working on the memoirs of my grandmother, Elisaveta Shmarova, and run an Instagram account where the exciting—yet at times dark—history of Russia intertwines with the deeply personal and touching narrative of my ancestors.
